Artist Statement
This series of wet cyanotype prints was made at the artist residency Chokechaka in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Peru during March 2026. I was inspired by the landscape’s natural beauty, the morning mountain vistas, the hum of hummingbirds and the scent of jasmine. The work emerged through a collaboration with the inhabitants of the residency’s garden, whose presence shaped the making. I acknowledge their vital role in the creation of these works. The process is inherently serendipitous and non-replicable; outcomes cannot be predicted in advance. Rather than exerting control, I surrendered to the universe as a collaborator, allowing chance, weather, and the alchemy of cyanotype to guide each print. This series invites nature to speak through light and time, foregrounding partnership with the living landscape as integral to the artistic process.
